Hi there - my name is Lucia. Although I initially completed my undergraduate degree in engineering, I have always felt a strong calling to support individuals in a therapeutic context. I approach therapy with a client-centred mindset, believing that my role is to help clients uncover and build the skills necessary to manage their emotions and improve their overall quality of life. My experience has been enriched through volunteering and working with diverse populations, including unhoused individuals, survivors of sexual assault, the LGBTQ2IA community, and young adults. In this work, I have gained experience supporting individuals dealing with anxiety, depression, trauma, and mood disorders.
I believe that a person’s values, behaviours, and sense of identity are deeply influenced by the environment in which they were raised and that self-awareness and direction can facilitate meaningful change. Adopting a client-centred approach means recognizing the client’s autonomy and trusting in their ability to access the skills needed to address their challenges. I am particularly interested in learning from clients about how they experience life, what is most important to them, and what their goals are.
I view clients holistically through a biopsychosocial lens, understanding that a person cannot be fully understood without considering the biological, psychological, and social factors that shape their emotions, behaviours, and thoughts. In therapy, I use interventions to draw awareness to these influences and explore what changes can be made both inside and outside of the therapeutic space to improve functioning and overall well-being. I believe that psychoeducation plays a vital role in therapy, as equipping clients with a deeper understanding of themselves can enhance their self-awareness and empower them to continue applying the skills they’ve learned long after therapy has ended. My goal is to help clients develop and maintain skills for self-care, communication, self-worth, daily functioning, and relationships.
